Whose opinion matters?
Have you ever watched a sporting event where the officials made a call that others did not agree with? In the game, whose opinion mattered? Have you ever thought why? It is because the officials had the authority in the game. In life, God is the official, and it is only His opinion that matters. 1 Corinthians 4:3-4 says, "But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by a human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord." This verse means that Jesus and His opinion of us is more important than our opinion of ourselves. He tells us His opinion of us in His Word, the Bible. Let's see what He tells us.
Are you really a good person?
God tells us in Romans 3:23, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." That means that at some time in your life, you have messed up and not met God's expectations. Have you ever lusted about another person? The Bible says that it is just as bad as acting it out. Have you ever received too much change from a purchase and neglected to return it? That is stealing. Have you ever used God's name in a way that did not honor Him? You just blasphemed God. Are you really a good person according to God's Word?
What will happen if something is not done?
The Bible says in Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." This means that we have earned death. Sin is not meeting God's expectations. The Bible teaches that death is separation. A physical death means that a person's spirit is separated from the body. Spiritual death means the spirit is separated from God and goes to hell. Revelation 21:8 says,"But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." Without forgiveness, God says that you will experience this second death. There's hope! There is an answer!
The Answer
In the Bible, Romans 6:23 from above says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." God sent a gift, and His name is Jesus. He died on the cross and rose again on the third day to make way to pay off the sin debt that you owe because He loves you, but His payment can only be applied to your life if you ask Him to pay off your sin debt.
How to apply The Answer
The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10, "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." There it is! Believe that Jesus truly died for you and rose again. Ask Jesus to forgive you of not meeting God's expectations. There is not one thing that you have ever done that He will not forgive. If you have truly believed in Jesus' death and resurrection, then you will have a changed life. Your actions will be what He wants you to do. This is how you know that you have been saved. You are free. According to God's Word, you will have eternal life with Him.
